Hamians 24 - East Leake 14

Life goes on ...and following last weeks cup win perhaps more mondene league action was going to be an anti climax

east leake had beaten us b4 XMAS in a poor hamians performance and were lying 4th in the table albeit a considerable points behind .

pride was at stake and hamians had a sunny and breezy day tp gain revenge

personal changes numbered 4 in the forwards and suprisingly only 3 in the backs plus one positional ...

persuading a legend to play on the wing by telling him he was a sub shows the skipper is learning recritment skills ..he did turn up on time , have kit albeitt odd boots and he did borrow his socks and shorts but wore hgis own hearing aid ...the hair may be thinner , the effortless acceleration a little less passey but 15 yds out with 3 men to beat , our monies on you ...a hat trick was only cruelly denied by the referres interpretation on momentum ( SHE SHOULD KNOW FISH SLIDE )

from the kick off int a strong wind , hamians tried to run it. Only last ditch defending , by some suprisingly pacey backs , stopped the enslaught .

Spilled passess and forcing out of contact gave posession back . East Leake tried route one . no change , tried inside channel towards our child like fly half and hobbit minder no change ...resorted to kicks for position

To be fair good chasing and follow up defence meant hamians had to defenc in 22 . Twice 5 yd scrums with attacking put in were repelled . Fringe defence was dislodging ball meaning the backrow could snaffle ball .

After 12 mins of offence pressure relieved , hamians scratch line was disrupting ball . Suddenly hobbit punches hole , ice links , and fro m ruck ball goes left ...yorkie gains yds up flank but pushed into touch .

Valuable yds against wind ...line out pressurised again ...series of scrummages eat into clock and tire opposition . Ball being recycled and backs finding rythem . Twice breakthrew nearly made but good tackles made .

Line out right , Two TOMS tip ball , wide move stopped , ball swings back , dainty hits up , recycle and move right...

ball reaches CAN with 21 stone option steaming upoutside he steps the cover defence , winger and full back check tackle but flaying arms cannot prevent the winger grounding the ball despite three players grappling for the 'fish '

with a shrug of the shoulders he shuffles back towards the halfway line

for the next 10 mins hamians dominated the forawrds exchanges and following good work with the defence split espsy bursts through at centre with 55 yds to go ...for some reason he took the long diagonal route of 55yds , 20 forward and 35 sideways ...support was confused the defence el;ated ..realising closed down off loads to ice , tackled , rucked out 4 man over lap right ..daints takes ball ( remmember in 1987 he was told yu can't pass so don't look at your shirt recognise the colour and run hard as fuck into anything which is not the same colour ,) which he did and was ajudged to have held on ...penalty ////7 points went beggin

ging fly half takes and kicks ...with wind Yorkie collects deep in 22 ...yep counter attack ...breaks one tackle , skips next , powers onwards being brought to ground on 10 yd line ...rush of blood time ...mikey suppoting calls for pop pass tp continue good work ...Yorkie oblidges with mikey's suspect hands missing 30 yd hurl which reaches east leake winger getting off ground 15 yds from hamoms line . Catches it , thinks i am off side , players scream at him , he stops almost spilling ball as players push him towards line and 7 points .

Take play up field , tremendous link play results in Yorkie pulled up short . Scrum hamians but one of the girls in hmains back three had received cheap shot pop at ruck ...ranting and chav like behaviur reverses desision ( pud the chav belitles back saying if we did that every time we got smacked we would never get out of our half )

start second half well , by sticky catching kick off ...trying to off load to jp in tackle spills rather than safe ruck ball

they go blind and defend to touch

hamians confuse on their ball . n bounces to centre , who is tackled by hobit and ice , regains feet and runs sticky hits wit h cover and momentum causes him to push back full back to score

hamians know chances must be taken

blitz kick off win line out and power on . SCRUMMAGE PRESSURE tiring leake defence ..

with ball won dainty reinforces ..gets 10 mins for flaying elbows

twice held up short , white line fever evident as people waste puds , and anvil charges ...

eventually it repeats ...can and the 21 stone soulmate get half good ball and Can steps and pirouits his magical way over

only one winner as East Leake are blowing and 15 mins still on clock

time amd time again backs break through and final pass ar delay allows scramble defence to hold ...east leake make subs ...

mikey reponds and tommy goes , ( one nite on piss u still play full game next day ....man's game after all )

scrummage central hit up and drive , with right shoulder opening space hobbit puts epsy through under posts from 40 yds out

we run from kick off ..yorkie on overlap cannot collect mikey pass

scrum drive over and ball cleared . east leake offend from line out hobbit hits up , ruck out and drive

silly stuff around mauls

hamins responding to digs

Goes right , hit up right , drive in and east leake impeed .

kick to corner 4 mins to play

ice ball and run wide left , reycle twice , pinged again ..east leake run strippd and ball swings right ,hobbit holds arc for scrum half to receive gold plated run in and conversion under posts

24 -14 win and pride

Selection with couple of games left is going to be interesting with those who are avaliable for one , both or none ...

On the social side we are taking a coach over to Boston on the 14TH april ...these trips are always of interest ( local constabulary usually ) ...cup final 21st april at mellish in nottigham 12.30 ko so we will be in the bar by 2.30 ..please arrange not to drive ( website will assist in transport ) ,,,,summer cricket is on agenda ....summer social is hobbit and clueseau ''pie appreciation '' plus games

lastly 2 sides entered in touch leagues

the famous social side is once again parading its considerable talent together with the athletes in the more serious undrtaking . Monday nights at lady bay ...full details in next weeks

BACKS ARE SLY INDIVIDUALS WHO DON'T PASS ,DON'T TRAIN , BLAME OTHERS FOR MISSED TACKLES ,AND REGULARLY DROP THE BALL . WORST OF ALL THEY COMPLAIN THEY DON'T GET ENOUGH BALL !!

FORWARDS WIN MATCHES , THEREFORE SHOULD WIN AWARDS OR AT LEAST MAKE SURE BACKS DON'T !!!!
