Southwell A 5 - Hamians 21

Tradition has hamians starting slowly to the winter season and a trip upto Southwell A was a potential tricky assignment

skipper leavy was absent and vice captain hobbit was reduced to a pen pushin stats man on the touchline ...stepping into the breach was a true hamian former skipper Draps who mustered the troops in typical forthright style.......

the starting line up included three fresh faces in the backs harold hobbit , paul on the wing and bryn in the centres with mitch adding youth to an aging back row

well other fresh faces in irish bruce and rich got to play their parts in later quarters

the score was a 21-5 away win and the feeling was with a little more skooling the possession would have resulted in further tries to the backline

playing 4 quarters and changing personal means the game could be disjointed but no good set plays and rapid recyling was a dominant factor . Defence showed good communication albeit the try conceeded was soft in so far as the danger was averted to fall for a simple one man charge!!

Plus points and scorers

Stickie showed good hands and brutal defence to gain good turnover ball

mozza cornered flagged offered the winger the outside , the wunger gased him but mozza's natural turn of pace meant it was a hungry lion miuning a startled wilderbeast as he collided with the winger into touch ...

Harold scored a breakaway , caught a pearler at full pace and delivered a brotherlike big hit

Paul had a couple of runs and good kick and chase ( centres restricted opportunities )
Chicago scored one from kick and chase , including lucky bounce , you don't buy a ticket you can't win a price ...made several breaks , passed 9 times and each time to his own player !! was caught by a scond row after stepping full back

irish bruce drove over 4 a try aftr good forward work and added to the front row mix

jez was annoying and got a lecture after the fighting

mitch was invoved in evertthing and gave second row a lessomn of#f how to be lifted and dumped backwards

draper and hartley ran the show for long periods

line out pods and scrummaging was good and Southwell had to opt for unopposed scrums mid way through scecond half , blunting a hamian strength

older members of the hamians pack slotted in like a warm hand into a postmans pre heated glove , offering guidance to the younger brood

coops has heroic at full back and payed like a 9th forward

next wek training tues and thurs and home to boots on the sat 8th sept

Direct debits are avaliable together with season long sponsorship opportunities please contact message board
