Casuals 14 - Hamians 13

Over the years hamians haved prided themselves on scoring points from free flowing rugby and generally opportunities to score are not squandered by one of the 7 deadly sins

greed , the ability not to pass , the crap pass , multiple dummies , diagonal running across the pitch ,superman or white line fever and lastly ignore the call as everyone will know what i am doing even if i don't tell them !!!!

we had them all and some in plentifold

adbolton like seaworld casuals agreed to host us

some of us had played there 3 weeks running

team selection

epsy , yorkie , yorkshire phil , hobbit , tim , artley , doctor alex , jez , daints, ice , cookie, pud, mozza, anvil , fat prop

bench oli , big rich

a changed team but confidence was high and playing with the breeze behind us immediate pressure was applied

a try resulted in which mozza at pace passed out of the tackle to hobbit to put yorkshire phil in under the posts for 7 nil

scrummage line out gave good ball and several flowing backs moves resulted in yorkis and epsy going close

remember the 7 deadly sins

drives from lineouts were pulled down and penalties kicked twice

13 nil

we probably should have scored 3 more tries in a 7 minute period and were dominant

casuals hung on

a cheap punch after the whistle was bottled by the ref and from the resultant scrum casuals gained momentum

twice hamians rescued the ball only to conceed needless penalties

from a line out crap ball caused the casuals stand off to throw a wild 35 yard miss pass...the fullback at pace broke through the tackle of centre and full back to score 13 -7

half time

wake up call

twice in 5 mins we should have scored , how 5 yds out 2 on 2 you failand throw balls into touch ...priceless

casuls used the wind and static mauls to pin the game in hamians half

good ball was proved but attacks were being marshalled and passes were becomig more and more adventourus

running from deep a mismatch occured with good hands opening up yorkie

contact and a wild pass resulted in two forwards shepherding hamians two quick men into gifting their no 8 a run under the posts

from a great attacking position we had given up the lead

13-14

casuals realising an upset was a possibility hung on to every ones suprise to pin hmians in own half

pressure on the new half back combination and the 7 deadly sins meant phases of play were disjointed and casuals lapped up the opportunity for first phase time wasting

mistakes meant with the strngthening wind kicks could pin hamians down

try as they could the clock ticked down and despite individual moments casuals defended in numbers

comments to the ref didn't help

a loss

the gleeful smirks about burgulars in the clubhouse and thanks for the gifted tries did not help our mood as we had lost a game we had in our control

next week Dronfield at home and a chance to secure third spot in the league

when promotion was one last year we knew local derbies would be keenly contested to the wire with sides rasising their game with local pride at stake
